SUBJECT:title

A Traffic Study for the Wilder Street and Vine Street intersection.  Ward 6, Alderman Saville.

body

PURPOSE:

A Traffic Study for the Wilder Street and Vine Street intersection to determine the warrants for STOP signage.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 143485 expressing concern for the uncontrolled intersection of Wilder Street and Vine Street.  There are no STOP or YIELD signs at this intersection.

DISCUSSION:

Wilder Street runs parallel and one block from Lake Street.  Both roadways have curb, gutter, and sidewalks.  Both are the city standard 29.5-ft in width.  Wilder Street runs from New York Street in the south to West Park Avenue in the north. In between, Wilder Street has Yield signage at each cross street, except Vine Street.  Vine Street runs only three blocks, having all uncontrolled intersections except the two-way STOP signage   on N. Lake Street.

Two-way STOP signage is recommended for the intersection of the Wilder Street and Vine Street, with the two STOP signs placed on Vine Street approaching Wilder Street.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Operations would be responsible for installing the two-way Stop signage and Stop Bar road markings.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff recommends installing a two-way STOP at the intersection of Wilder Street and Vine Street, with the two STOP signs placed on Vine Street approaching Wilder Street.
