Riverfront Playhouse is requesting permission to stage Shakespeare on the Mall on Water Street Mall Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this event is to provide a free outdoor presentation to those who may not otherwise have the chance to experience Shakespeare.
BACKGROUND:
This is the second year for this event from Riverfront Playhouse which has had a presence in the downtown since 1978. In its first year over 100 people attended.
DISCUSSION:
There are no City costs associated with this event. Riverfront Playhouse will submit the Certificate of Insurance upon City Council approval of the event.
Requesting use of both Water Street Mall and adjoining Mundy Park. Access to all available electric along the north side of Mundy Park and the east portion of WSM is also requested.
Organizers expect attendance of 150+. A 50% increase over last year.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There are no negative impacts associated with this event.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
