Requesting approval to dedicate Watson Street from Fifth Avenue to Seventh Avenue as Daniel D. Dolan Lane on Saturday, October 18th at 9:30 am.

PURPOSE:
The purpose is to honor long standing, prominent Auroran, Daniel D. Dolan by dedicating the street on which he grew up and his family lived for many years.
BACKGROUND:
Lifelong Aurora resident Daniel D. Dolan, along with long-time business partner James O. Murphy, has helped zone and transform thousands of acres of land into the city that we know today.
An East High Tomcat and Naval veteran of the Korean War, Dolan returned to his hometown following his service to work for five years as an Aurora firefighter before going into real estate.
In 1965 Dolan and Murphy formed their commercial and investment real estate firm, and soon thereafter adopted the motto, "If it's good for Dolan & Murphy, it's good for Aurora."
Over nearly 50 years, the Dolan & Murphy team has developed or assisted with the development of major projects including the I-88 and Farnsworth interchange, the Butterfield Development project at I-88 and Eola, and the Indian Trail extension.
In keeping with a vision of an economically strong Aurora, the family-run Dolan & Murphy has helped ensure development by working closely with the Aurora City Council and Plan Commission as well as other zoning and economic development boards to craft planning and zoning policies that keep Aurora moving forward.
Dolan has also remained committed to Aurora in civic endeavors, sponsoring the Dolan & Murphy Shamrock Fast Pitch softball team and taking an active role in Aurora Central Catholic's high school building program. He was named the grand marshal of Aurora's 2004 Independence Day Parade.
