SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study the intersection of Bradbury Cr. and N. Commerce St. Ward 10, Alderman Johnson
body
PURPOSE:
To determine the need for STOP signage at the intersection of N. Commerce Street and Bradbury Circle due to residential complaints of speeding on N. Commerce Street.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 96163 expressing concern that the Temporary Speed Hump will no longer be re-installed on N. Commerce Street just north of Bradbury Circle (14-00490, ACR 93159). Resident requested STOP signage on N. Commerce Street to control.
DISCUSSION:
STOP signage is not to be used to control speeds, according to specific regulations in the MUTCD (Municipal Uniform Code of Traffic Control Devices) issued as adopted by the City of Aurora. With that said, existing conditions do not warrant an all way stop based on volumes, pedestrians, or crash history
However based on the traffic study, the roadway does meet the minimum qualifications for traffic calming. The Alderman will need to work with the HOA to determine the desire to move forward with investigating traffic calming and/or type of appropriate calming application.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommended acceptance of traffic study.
