PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for Prairie Street in the 800 block to investigate the warrants for making the north side NO PARKING.
BACKGROUND:
A Prairie Street Resident submitted ACR Case ID 138145 complaining that they had trouble backing out of their driveway on the north side of Prairie Street because of the vehicles parked on the north side of Prairie Street. They suggested converting the entire north side of Prairie Street to NO PARKING as a solution. Prairie Street is an ample 39.5-ft wide.
DISCUSSION:
Allowing parking on the 800 block of Prairie is essential. Staff did observe ordinance violations parking within five-feet of the eastern side of the 825 Prairie Street drive approach shared with 821 Prairie Street. Yellow Curb marking would help clear up this improper street parking, if applied to their drive approach and the drive approach to the west. (Notice in the photo the oil slick within five feet of the eastern drive approaches.)
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for installing the Yellow Curb.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends marking the 5-ft. No Parking spaces on the drive approaches to 825 Prairie Street, 821 Prairie Street, and 833 Prairie Street.
