PURPOSE:
The Rosary High School Alumnae Association is requesting permission to conduct Road Scholars 5K Run/Walk to raise funds for the Sister Mary Joseph Scholarships for students.
BACKGROUND:
This will be the 14th year the fundraiser will be held. The event attracted approximately 100 participants last year and is expecting approximately 200 participants this year.
DISCUSSION:
In past years the event takes place on the streets, though the streets remained open. Runners have been aware that they must yield to all traffic. Road Marshalls, wearing safety vests and using stop signs provided by event organizers, have been used to stand by at intersections. The event organizers are planning on having approximately 40 volunteers on hand assisting with the event this year. The event is planned to carry on rain or shine.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The event organizers will be utilizing the services of the Aurora Police Department Traffic Division.

Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
