Requesting permission to stage the City of Aurora's annual 4th of July Parade on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 stepping off at 10:00 am.

PURPOSE:
This annual event unites the citizens of Aurora in celebration of our country's independence.
BACKGROUND:
The parade is coordinated through the Special Events division with assistance from the 4th of July Parade Board and the Roosevelt American Legion Post #84.
DISCUSSION:
The parade will step off at 10:00 am from the corner of Benton and River, head east to Broadway, north to Galena, west to Stolp, south to Downer and west to River ending at the corner of River and Downer. A map is included as an attachment.
Expenditures for this event have been appropriated in account number 101-1341-450.53-01.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Assistance from the following City departments is requested: Police, Streets, MVPS, Electrical, Public Information, Downtown Maintenance, Property Standards and Water & Sewer. This is to facilitate street closures, site set-up and tear-down and provide for public safety.
A detailed City services request will go out to all the effected departments several weeks in advance. A preliminary version is attached. Special Events will also meet with APD to determine barricades and staffing as it relates to public safety.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
