SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To establish the number of Class E - Full Menu Restaurant license for the number of Class E licenses at 49.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
Mai Quesi Inc., dba Mai Quesi be located at 1518 E. New York, Aurora, IL has submitted a liquor license application for a Class E license for the purpose of selling to the general public alcoholic liquor by the drink for consumption on the premises where sold, and not for resale in any form, provided that such sales shall be in conjunction with the sale of food for consumption on the premises. This is an existing restaurant who has new ownership.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met. The license will not be issued until all documents regarding the approved occupancy by the City of Aurora and food service license by Kane County is received by the City.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the June 18, 2019 meeting of the Committee of the Whole for consideration.
