First Presbyterian Church is requesting the closure of 4th Street between Benton and Downer on the evenings of July 8 and 9 for community events.

PURPOSE:
First Presbyterian Church is celebrating a week of outreach and service. As part of the celebration they are planning several events on the church grounds and across at the Harkness Center.
BACKGROUND:
To ensure public safety the Church is requesting 4th Street be closed to traffic between Benton and Downer. Participants will be crossing back and forth between the two properties during the events. Requested times are Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm and Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
DISCUSSION:
There are no direct costs associated with this event. At the time of input insurance is pending and expected to be complete by the GO date.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Closing 4th Street will not adversely affect traffic in the area.
City Services requested:
Street Department to drop 2 barricades at the corner of Benton and 4th and 2 at the corner of Downer and 4th the afternoon of July 8 and pick up July 11. Organizers will place them when needed and remove them at the conclusion of the event.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
