SUBJECT:
To purchase two 2015 Ford F-750 Chip Dump Trucks from Altec Industries as a sole source in the amount of $165,450.00.

PURPOSE:
The purchase of these two Ford F-750 Chip Dump Trucks will allow the Street Maintenance Division to be more productive since these trucks have a larger volume chipper box capacity then existing trucks. The City tree crews will be able to cut more trees before having to dump the wood chips. Additionally, these two trucks are built as forestry units that have compartments to store chain saws and hand tools thus making the forestry crews even more efficient.

BACKGROUND:
Currently the Street Maintenance division has three forestry crews that are cutting dead ash trees throughout the City of Aurora. The last three years these tree crews have cut approximately 18,000 trees. The crews use 5-yard and 10-yard dump trucks that have been converted into chipper dump trucks. These trucks have a lower volume capacity for wood chips then the chip dump trucks and don't have storage compartments for saws, hand tools and supplies. Units 48-324 and 48-331 have both been budgeted for replacement in 2015.

DISCUSSION:
The Street Maintenance Division is currently renting two 2015 Ford F-750 Chip Dump Trucks from Altec Industries, located at 2106 S. Riverside Road, St. Joseph, MO. The monthly rental charge is $1,950.00 per unit and 100% of the first two months rental charges can be applied to the purchase cost if approved. The purchase price for each of these units is $86,625.00. After the two month rental credit the purchased price will be $82,725.00 per unit.

Front line employees of the Street Maintenance Division have been very satisfied with these trucks (see attached email). The trucks have improved the efficiency of the forestry crews due to their larger chip capacity and storage compartments for forest...
