SUBJECT:
A Resolution Authorizing the Director of Procurement to Execute the Engineering Agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. for the Construction Inspection and Material Testing Services for the 2017 Resurfacing Projects.
PURPOSE:
This Engineering Agreement will provide Construction Inspection and Material Testing Services for the 2017 Resurfacing Projects.
BACKGROUND:
The city plans to resurface 50.6 lane miles of streets for nearly $6 million. In order to oversee construction including inspections, work layout and fully document work, the city will require an experienced Resident Engineer to assist city staff with this project.
DISCUSSION:
The attached Engineering Services Agreement from Engineering Enterprises, Inc. (EEI) noted as Exhibit 'A' provides an experienced full time Resident Engineer for up to 974 man-hours and additional fees for a sub-consultant to provide Material Testing. EEI will assist the Engineering Department with construction supervision on the 2017 Resurfacing projects as detailed in the scope of services in an amount not to exceed $120,270.56.
The 2017 City Budget provides $120,270.56 for this item in account no. 340-4460-431.73-91 (CapA). Previous agreements with other firms were $172,000 ($98,100 final cost) in 2016 and $121,000 ($99,431 final cost) in 2015.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended to approve and forward the resolution to the next Committee of the Whole meeting.
