A Traffic Study for Claim Street in the 800 block. Ward 2, Alderman Garza.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for Claim Street in the 800 block at the curve and alley. The inside of the curve is No Parking with Yellow curb but without No Parking signage. West bound vehicles come around the inside of the curve find difficulty in adjusting for parked vehicles and avoiding opposing traffic.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted PS # 2707220 expressing concern regarding the west bound navigation of the Claim Street curve.
DISCUSSION:
Claim Street is the standard 29.5-ft in width, with a residential speed limit of 25 mph. There are No Parking signs on the south side of Claim Street from Beach Street to N. Smith Street. Yellow curb does exist on the north side of Street, in front of 848 Claim Street. There is an alley entrance on the south side of Claim Street in the center of the existing curve.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for installing signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing NO PARKING signage, from the 842 driveway to the 848 driveway, on Claim Street, for the north side of the street and on the south side of Claim Street, 30 feet east and west of the alley intersection.
