Aurora Downtown is requesting permission to stage Alley Art Festival on Water Street Mall Saturday, August 27, 2016 from Noon to 5:00 pm.

PURPOSE:
Alley Art Festival is a free family friendly art and music event promoting local artists.  
 
BACKGROUND:
This is a grassroots community event utilizing local artisans, crafters and musicians which provides free activities for all ages.  This is the sixth year for this event which took a hiatus last year.  Projected attendance is up to 500 during the course of the five hour event.  There are 15 volunteers to assist with set up and tear down. 
 
DISCUSSION:
Alley Art Festival has received Neighborhood Festival Funding to help offset costs and insurance coverage is being provided by the City of Aurora.  
 
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City Services requested are:
Electrical-access to the power located at the southeast corner of City Hall on WSM.
Community Services-order the portable toilets (covered by NFF).
 
 
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
