PURPOSE:
The Nancy Young Elementary School PTA is requesting permission to hold its proposed annual Dolphin Dash 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk/Run to raise money for additional educational programs and resources for Nancy Young Elementary School.
BACKGROUND:
The Nancy Young Elementary School has held this proposed event for the past 8 years. In 2015, 255 people participated in the event.
DISCUSSION:
The Nancy Young Elementary School PTA is proposing to hold the event in 2016 using the same routes as in previous years. They are expecting 350 people to participate in 2016 and have 50 staff/volunteers to help. Nancy Young Elementary School is responsible for all costs associated with holding this proposed event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division, the Streets Maintenance Division for barricades and cardboard trash bins.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
