SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study on N. Commerce Street. Ward 10, Alderman Johnson.
body
PURPOSE:
To determine qualification for traffic calming under the City's Traffic Calming Policy for N. Commerce near Bradbury Circle.
BACKGROUND:
There was a temporary Speed Hump installed in recent years on N. Commerce near Bradbury Circle. The Speed Hump was removed before winter and was never re-installed.
DISCUSSION:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 93159 desiring the Speed Hump to be re-installed. The Traffic Volume ADT for this location of N. Commerce Street is about 1,900 vpd. Traffic Speed northbound was found to be 30 mph Average, with 35 mph for the 85th percentile. Traffic Speed southbound was 29 mph, with 34 mph for the 85th percentile. Under the adopted traffic calming policy this segment of roadway does qualify for traffic calming. It is recommended that the Alderman work with the HOA to determine the desire to move forward with investigating traffic calming. The Traffic Calming is attached.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Residents will need to work with the city to determine if they would like to proceed with traffic calming and what type they would prefer. Any recommended calming devices would be contingent on Ward funding.
