A Traffic Study for the 2nd Avenue and S. Kendall Street intersection. Ward 7, Alderman Hart-Burns.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for the 2nd Avenue and S. Kendall Street intersection to determine the warrants for STOP signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 120285 requesting consideration for installing STOP signage for the uncontrolled intersection of 2nd Avenue and S. Kendall Street.
DISCUSSION:
This is a "T" intersection, with eastbound 2nd Avenue terminating at S. Kendall Street. Both streets are of normal city width. S. Kendall Street only has curb and gutter on the west side to the south, while 2nd Avenue has it on both sides. There are sidewalks only on the southwest corner approaches. Both are Residential roadways.
Apparent traffic volumes do not appear to warrant an all way stop; however, more flexibility is given when installing two way stop signage to define right of way.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operation will be required to install recommended signage
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends a single STOP sign with cross traffic does not stop placard on 2nd Avenue approach to Kendall Avenue.
