A Traffic Study for N. Constitution Drive near Constitution Court.  Ward 5, Alderman Franco.

body

PURPOSE:

A Traffic Study for traffic speed and volume on N. Constitution Drive near Constitution Court.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted PS# 2355271 expressing concern for access to Constitution Court from and to N. Constitution Drive.

DISCUSSION:

N. Constitution Drive is classified as a minor collector. The width is a wide 36-ft, with a speed limit of 25 mph.  The area of study has curb and gutter all around, with standard sidewalks on N. Constitution Drive and Copley Street.

The traffic study revealed an ADT of 3,200 vpd.  Speeds averaged 31 mph. (Constitution Spd-Vol 06 2017.pdf).

To the south of N. Constitution Drive and Copley Street, N. Constitution Drive has a slight curve.  Installation of additional speed limit signage may heighten motorist awareness of travel speed of this roadway.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Operations would be responsible for installing signage.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff recommends installation of additional speed limit signage near the subject intersection.
