Requesting approval for Community Christian Church to hold Celebrando Unidos at the Phillips Park Pavilion on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this event is to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
BACKGROUND:
This is the first year for this event which will be a cultural celebration of Hispanic Heritage and include a mariachi, family games and a picnic style lunch. The event is sponsored by Community Christian Church and is free and open to the public. Event hours are from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm with set up beginning at 8:00 am and clean up complete by 5:00 pm.
DISCUSSION:
It is anticipated that all activities will be held within the immediate pavilion area. A site plan is attached. Organizers expect approximately 250 attendees and will utilize 40 volunteers.
There are no direct costs incurred to the City with this event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Parks Department will reserve the pavilion for this event.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee.
