SUBJECT:
Purchase of a heavy duty stake bed truck from Rush Truck Center through the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contract 4018132 for the Street Maintenance Division.
PURPOSE:
To replace truck #48-364 that has met the replacement criteria and was approved in the 2018 budget.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Aurora participates in the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts for the purchase of new vehicles. This purchasing program solicit bids for new vehicles from automotive and truck dealers thus we can forego the bidding process.
DISCUSSION:
I am requesting the authority to purchase a heavy duty stake bed truck in the amount of $108,920.00 from Rush Truck Center through the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contract 4018132.
Street Maintenance Division's unit 48-364 is a 2001 International 25,000 GVRW heavy-duty truck with a stake bed. The stake bed will be reused since it is in excellent condition. Account 340-4460-431-7510 has $140,000 reserved to fund this purchase.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The purchase of a new heavy duty stake bed truck will reduce the maintenance and repair cost for the Street Maintenance Division plus improve the reliability of the fleet
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council approve a resolution authorizing the purchase of a heavy duty stake bed truck in the amount of $108,920.00 from Rush Truck Center through the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contract 4018132.
