Title: A Traffic Study to determine appropriate parking regulations at 345 S. Lincoln Ave. Ward 4, Alderman Donnell
Sponsors: Public Works
TO:      Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM:      Eric J. Gallt, City Traffic Engineer

DATE:      December 3, 2013

SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study to determine appropriate parking regulations at 345 S. Lincoln Ave.  Ward 4, Alderman Donnell
body
PURPOSE:
To determine the best possible parking regulations for 345 S. Lincoln Ave.

BACKGROUND:
A concerned resident submitted ACR Case ID 80617 requesting NO PARKING devices in front of their home.  The resident maintains that their child has "a very difficult time" to get on the school bus because of unspecified special needs.

DISCUSSION:
S. Lincoln Avenue is major collector, wide enough for two-way traffic with parking on either side.  A school bus stop requiring a good deal of extra time to pick up a child with special needs creates a daily traffic back up.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Staff recommendation will require installation of yellow curbing by Operations Department

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends placement of 15 feet of yellow curb paint each side of existing sidewalk extension for a total of 30 feet.
