body
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the historic nature of this block and to attract new business to the area.

BACKGROUND:
This is the 7th year the Friends of LaSalle Street have coordinated a car show on this block.

DISCUSSION:
A Neighborhood Festival Funding Grant has been awarded in the past to assist with implementation and marketing.  An application for financial assistance was just received and will be reviewed in the next few weeks for a recommendation.  There are no additional City expenditures associated with this event.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The group is seeking approval for street closure of LaSalle from Downer to Benton. Set up begins at 8:00 am and tear down will be complete by 4:30 pm.  The City services requested includes two (2) class lll barricades with "No Thru Traffic" signage and four (4) standard barricades to be dropped off on LaSalle at the Benton and Downer corners on Friday, August 22nd. Organizers will place "No Parking" signs along the street on the Saturday prior in order to avoid the towing of any vehicles. The event organizers are responsible for notifying neighboring property owners of the street closure two weeks prior and will obtain approval for the use of the parking lots owned by Fifth Third and PNC banks.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
