SUBJECT:
Ordinance authorizing the sale of City Real Estate (the southerly half of LOT 6) at 226 High
Street, Aurora, Illinois, Permanent Index No.: 15-22-426-046
PURPOSE:
Attached is an Ordinance authorizing the sale of the City real estate, the southerly half of Lot 6, commonly known as 226 High Street, with PIN 15-22-426-046, to Ramiro R. Leon, who own the property directly north of the area to be sold (230 High Street). Under the terms of the proposed sale, Leon will pay the City one dollar ($1.00) and consolidate the land with his current parcel. This sale includes all of said property PIN 15-22-426-046
BACKGROUND:
In April 2007 the City of Aurora accepted a Quit Claim deed for the property at 226 High Street, Aurora, Illinois (the southerly half of Lot 6) from Ann Wohlabaugh. The structures on the property are raised and the lot is vacant. The property is currently exempt from real estate taxes. The lot is to be rejoined with the northerly half of Lot 6, and given to that adjoining land owner (Leon) as legally described below:
THE SOUTHERLY HALF OF LOT 6 IN BLOCK 6 OF BARR AND YUNG'S ADDITION TO AURORA, IN THE CITY OF AURORA, KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
DISCUSSION:
The City has made this type of arrangement before with adjacent owners in order to dispose of vacant City-owned lots.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Transfer of the property to the adjoining property owner will move parcel back to the City tax rolls and remove parcel from City maintenance.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Place on Finance Committee Calendar (6/13/17 Agenda) for approval to City Council.
