SUBJECT:title

Requesting approval for the 4300 block of Westbrook Lane to be dedicated to John and Eileen Hix on Friday, August 24, at 11:00 am.

PURPOSE:

To honor John and Eileen Hix for their lifelong commitment to the City of Aurora.

 

BACKGROUND:

John and Eileen raised 10 children in Aurora, many of whom still live here and are active in the community. Through Hix Music he taught thousands of area students over decades of lessons.  Throughout their lives they stayed active in the community supporting those in need. 

 

DISCUSSION:

This street dedication will honor the lives of John and Eileen who, through quiet generosity and tireless devotion touched and improved the lives of countless people.

 

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Street Department Sign Shop will create and install the street signs, deliver barricades to close the street and cover the sign for the dedication ceremony.  Special Events will coordinate the logistics for the ceremony. 

 

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
