A resolution appointing Jacqueline Herrarte-Arellano and Mark Rising to "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayors Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board).
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this memo is to appoint two additional members to the newly formed "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board).
DISCUSSION:
Earlier this year, "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board) was formed to act as any advisory body to the Mayor and City Council on the development or initiation of programs or actions that will enhance, develop and create sustainable practices within the City of Aurora. Resumes and/or biographies for each of the candidates are attached. If there are any questions regarding these candidates, please contact Alex Voigt in my office.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the appointments of the two new candidates to "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board).

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, vacancies exist on "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board); and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that Jacqueline Herrarte-Arellano and Mark Rising be appointed to said board.
