SUBJECT:
An Ordinance amending sections 2-VI-5 of the Aurora Code of Ordinances to Codify the City's Technical Boards and Commissions.

PURPOSE:
This new section will codify the purpose and authority of the following Technical Boards and Commissions: Building Code of Appeals, Electrical Commission, Fire Code Board of Appeals, Permanent Building and Fire Code Committee and Permanent Housing Code Committee.

BACKGROUND:
Some of the City's technical boards are only referenced in the Code, without any further information about purpose, duties or membership.

DISCUSSION:
This amendment will codify all technical boards so the City's ordinance will include their purposes, duties and membership information.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This revised section will codify and describe Aurora's Technical Boards.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff respectfully recommends that this Ordinance be adopted.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
