A Traffic Study for Station Blvd. Ward 10, Alderman Johnson.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for Station Blvd. to change two 2-way STOP intersections into 4-way STOPs for Milford Lane and Lewisburg Lane.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 121667 requesting that cars allegedly speeding on Station Blvd. be controlled by converting the above intersections from 2-way STOPs into 4-way STOPs.
DISCUSSION:
There are two intersections on Station Blvd. that both intersect both Milford Lane and Lewisburg Lane. Both are under discussion. The southbound and northbound lanes are both 25-ft wide. The entrance choke points at the intersections are only 15-ft.
Station Boulevard is designed for intended use as a collector through this corridor. In as much it is important to keep efficient traffic movement though the corridor. There are intersections with improved pedestrian crossing facilities along the corridor.
STOP signage is not to be used to control speeds, according to specific regulations in the MUTCD (Municipal Uniform Code of Traffic Control Devices) issued as adopted by the City of Aurora. With that said, existing conditions do not warrant an all way stop based on volumes, pedestrians, or crash history.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
