The Aurora Police Department Girls Run The World 5K Run and Walk, and Party in the Park, Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

PURPOSE:
The Aurora Police Department is requesting permission to hold a 5K run and walk, and party in the park to aid in the expansion of the Girls Run The World program that services three Aurora high schools.
BACKGROUND:
This is the first year that the Aurora Police Department is planning to hold this proposed event.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora police Department is expecting 100-150 people to participate and 20 staff/volunteers to help with this event at Phillips Park. Activities planned include having several dance groups perform, face painting, poetry, guest speakers, community resource tables, and a DJ. They have slated May 12, 2018 as the rain date. The Aurora Police Department is responsible for securing the funds to pay for all costs associated with holding this proposed event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department, which will be worked out internally, and from the Parks & recreation Division for use of the Phillips Park for the run, walk, and party activities, barricades, trash bins, and electricity.
