SUBJECT:
Request for authorization of The Mayor and City Clerk to execute all documents as they relate to the purchase of real property commonly known as 333 West Park Avenue, Aurora, IL 60506 with parcel number 15-22-102-032 Ward 6/Saville

PURPOSE:
This real property is a single family vacant and abandoned building. The building structurally cannot be rehabbed and creates blight in this residential neighborhood. Upon acquisition the building will be demolished and the vacant lot will be offered to the adjoining neighbors with for a nominal cost which includes following procedures for subdividing.

BACKGROUND:
This request is a Ward Six project from the request of Alderman Mike Saville. The acquisition is from the Cost of Land account number 316-1330-463.71-01. The purchase price is $47,000.00.

DISCUSSION:
Ward Six continues to reduce density in the ward through strategic land acquisition. This acquisition will reduce a blighted abandoned property which attracts a nuisance to the residential neighborhood. This property is up for auction for back taxes. With this acquisition the city and ward will benefit from an absent tax buyer with a blighted and vacant building used as a hedge towards real estate speculation on an unsafe structure. In addition, the vacant and abandoned building when demolished will have a lower impact on city resources for code enforcement and crime. The account for acquisition is from Cost of Land account number 316-1330-463.71-01 germane to the subject should be included.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This acquisition will provide quality of life to the surrounding residential community. The Department of Neighborhood Standards will have responsibility with cooperation of various divisions to the demolition and disposal of the property.
