SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Reflections Drive. Ward 7, Alderman Hart-Burns
body
PURPOSE:
To evaluate speeds and traffic volumes on Reflections Drive by performing a Traffic Study by deploying out Traffic Counters.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 101937 requesting Speed Bumps or a reduction of the Speed Limit for Reflections Drive, concerned that "people drive too fast."
DISCUSSION:
The Speed Limit for this Residential Street has already been set to the City Standard for Residential streets: 25 mph.
A Traffic Study has been conducted every two years since 2006. The data has been consistent over the last five years and do not indicate a speeding issue that would be corrected by traffic calming.
The most recent Traffic Study revealed speeds of:
Average Speed: 25 mph;
Mode Speed: 20 to 25 mph; and
85th percentile: 27 to 31 mph.
This segment of Reflections Drive does not qualify for traffic calming based on 85th percentile speed.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact with no action recommended at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
