SUBJECT:title

A Parking Study for Mallette Road.  Ward 1, Alderman Bohman.

body

PURPOSE:

A Parking Study for Mallette Road, from Selmarten Road, eastward, to the dead end of Mallette Road.

BACKGROUND:

Received email from Dan Soltis of CIMA Developers/Aurora Parent Petroleum, complaining about vehicle parking along Mallette and truck trailers/equipment being stored in the roadway, making it difficult for truck access for existing businesses.

DISCUSSION:

Mallette Road is classified as an industrial roadway, 35 feet in width, with a 25 mph speed limit.  Dense parking along with stored trailers and equipment was field observed on Mallette, especially east of Comprehensive Drive. Staff has contacted business, RB Enterprises, which owns undeveloped lot northeast of the Mallette Road and Comprehensive Drive intersection, to remove vehicles, tractor-less trailers and equipment from the roadway but these issues continue.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Street Department & APD resources.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff recommends posting NO PARKING THIS SIDE signage, along the south side of Mallette Road, starting 30 feet west of Comprehensive Drive and continuing east to end of Mallette Road.  Further recommend posting NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signage on northeast and northwest quadrants of the intersection of Mallette Road and Comprehensive Drive, to restrict parking within 30 feet of the intersection.  Also recommend random, selective APD parking restriction enforcement.
