SUBJECT:
A Resolution authorizing the reappointment of Hortencia Ramos, Susan Sosa Bachmeier, Ryan Maley, and Ricky Rodgers, as well as the appointment of Maureen McKane to the Human Relations Commission.

DISCUSSION:
In June of 2021, the City Council approved changes to Chapter 2, which included a sunset provision for all board/commission members. The sunset was included to bring the board/commission terms into compliance with the new dates provided in the ordinance, as well as survey members if they wished to continue to serve or step down.

The nomination brought forth today represents four veteran members and a new candidate.

Hortencia Rams, a ward 10 resident to serve their third term.

Susa Sosa Bachmeier, a ward 5 resident to serve their four term.

Ryan Maley, a ward 4 resident to serve their fourth term.

Ricky Rodgers, a ward 6 resident to serve their third term.

Maureen McKane, new candidate from ward 4 who volunteers their time to serve the community.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances provides that the Mayor, shall, with the approval of the City Council, appoint the members of the advisory boards and commissions of the City; and
