City of Aurora Special Needs Signage Policy.

body

PURPOSE:

To establish a policy for installing, maintaining, and removing special needs signage.

BACKGROUND:

Government Operations Committee and Staff have developed a Policy for the installation, maintenance and removal of special needs and handicap parking signage.

DISCUSSION:

Government Operations Committee and City Staff have developed and discussed a Special Needs Signage Policy, which would determine the need for existing and future signage.  Applications for special needs and handicap parking requests would supply information to City, to help determine if signage is warranted and define requestor responsibilities. Street Department will take inventory of existing signs, to determine if existing special needs signage is still warranted.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Committee and Staff Resources

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff recommends approval of the Special Needs Signage Policy and Applications.
