PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for Prairie Street and Kingsway Drive, to determine if a change in traffic control for the intersection is necessary.
BACKGROUND:
Alderman Franco submitted email request for a traffic study at the subject intersection, to determine if the current yield sign control, for the Kingsway Drive approaches should be changed to stop sign control.
DISCUSSION:
Kingsway Drive is classified as a residential roadway, 21 feet in width south of Prairie Street, 37 feet in width north of Prairie Street, with a 25 mph speed limit. Existing intersection traffic control are yield signs for the Kingsway Drive approaches to Prairie Street. There are existing trees and shrubs along the Kingsway Drive approaches.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street Department resources.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends replacing the existing yield signs with stop signs for the Kingsway Drive approaches.
