PURPOSE:
The Seth Egger Memorial Fund is requesting permission to hold a 5K run walk to raise money for scholarships in Seth Egger's name.
BACKGROUND:
Several years ago, Seth Egger, an Aurora Central Catholic High School student passed unexpectedly. Family members wanted to begin a scholarship in his name. The family did not have a charitable donation status and was asked about working with the school to set up the scholarship. The family stated that they wanted to control the scholarship distribution, so the first year they partnered with a local church to hold the event. This year, the organizers did have the fund established and held the event where 280 people participated.
DISCUSSION:
The event organizers are expecting 300 people to participate in 2018 and 30-35 volunteers to help. They have designated Sunday, July 1, 2018 as the rain date. The event organizers are responsible for all costs associated with holding this proposed event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department for at least 3 Officers, and from the Parks & Recreation Division for use of the dedicated 5K route, trash bins, and electric.
