SUBJECT:
A resolution to award a Contract to Gerardi Sewer & Water Co. of 4520 N. Osage, Norridge, IL 60706 for the Redwood Drive Water Main Replacement Project in the amount of $428,618.50. The project is located in Ward 5.

PURPOSE:
The water main along Redwood Drive, south of Illinois Ave. has been experiencing water main breaks. In addition, the terminus is a hydrant on the dead-end flushing list. The proposed project replaces the existing main, adds one (1) additional fire hydrant to meet the City of Aurora fire protection criteria, and loops the water main to remove the project from Water Production's dead-end flushing list.

DISCUSSION:
The Redwood Drive Water Main Replacement project will loop a current dead-end water main. This will eliminate the line from Water Production's dead-end flushing list. The Water & Sewer Fund, Project IC076 Account 510-4058-511-73-02 has sufficient funds for the project. Gerardi Sewer & Water Co. was the lowest responsible bid.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed project will result in temporary road closures to through traffic. Water utility easements are being secured from the West Aurora Plaza, the 5th/3rd Bank, and Westminster Church. All land owners are supportive of the project. Engineering staff has meet with the owners of the mall and the...
