SUBJECT:
An Ordinance Amending the Ward 4 Budget for Fiscal Year 2026.

PURPOSE:
To obtain the City Council's approval of a proposed amendment to the 2026 Ward 4 budget.

BACKGROUND:
This will cover Phase 1 preliminary engineering for the Safe Routes to Schools Project. Engineering is now at the state of needing to engage a consultant for some additional services. As originally agreed by the Alderman and engineering, the Alderman is responsible for the Phase 1 and Phase 2 engineering costs of the project within Ward 4.

DISCUSSION:
The budget amendment of $6,200 will be made from the Ward 4 Fund Balance. This amount will be placed into account 314-4060-431.38-18. The purchase order will be made out to the vendor.


IMPACT STATEMENT:
Participating in the Safe Routes to School Program will enhance student safety and community well-being around our local school. Improving walking and biking infrastructure will create safer, more accessible routes for students and families.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopt the proposed ordinance that would affect the 2026 Ward 4 budget.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
