SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study to determine the feasibility of installing two handicap parking spaces on Fourth Avenue near the rear of a Church. Ward 3, Alderman Mesiacos
body
PURPOSE:
To study the area at the rear entrance of the Emmanual Lutheran Church at 550 Fourth Avenue to examine the possibility of improving access for the handicapped.
BACKGROUND:
An ACR Case ID 78982 was received from a resident expressing the desire to increase access for the handicapped to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 550 Fourth Avenue, at the rear entrance. There is a curb cut and walk for the rear entrance currently in place. The front of the Church is surrounded by many steps, leaving the rear entrance be the only practical entrance for the handicapped. No off street parking is available for handicap patrons.
DISCUSSION:
Handicapped signage and blue curb painting would be required to designate two handicapped spaces.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations Department would be required to install two handicap stall with both curb painting and signage
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of two handicapped parking spaces one east and one west of the existing curb ramp on Fourth Street.
