PURPOSE:
This request is for approval to designate 4:00pm to 7:30pm as the official hours for the public to participate in Trick-or-Treat on Halloween.
BACKGROUND:
4:00pm to 7:30pm has been the official hours to participate in Trick-or-Treat on Halloween in Aurora for many years. These hours fall in the middle of Trick-or-Treat hours used by Kane County communities in 2015. In 2015, a community started as early as 2:00pm, some go from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, and some end at 8:00pm.
DISCUSSION:
The 4:00pm to 7:30pm hours would be communicated to the public by various City Departments/Divisions along with a message for the public to enjoy the Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours safely.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Patrol and vigilance by the Aurora Police Department as deemed necessary.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
