PURPOSE:
The City's fiber optic network has provided the City with increased network capability and capacity while significantly reducing monthly costs. The initial network was comprised of City facilities being directly connected to the fiber network. The original network was 42 miles. The existing network is approximately 53 miles. The addendum allows the network to be extended utilizing City owned resources (towers, buildings, property). These connections would utilize a variety of wireless point to point connections. This type of connection is ideal in 2 different situations:
* Facilities that are not adjacent to City fiber
* Facilities that don't have the need for full fiber capability or expense

BACKGROUND:
The City Council originally approved a Master Agreement with OnLight Aurora in May of 2012. This agreement allowed OnLight Aurora the ability to lease fiber network capacity for the benefit of the community. The original agreement allowed the lease of a portion of the City's network for the benefit our community. This lease was limited to fiber only.

DISCUSSION:
OnLight Aurora has successfully provided network services to many community partners and organizations. Examples include:
* West Aurora School District 129
* IMSA - Illinois Math and Science Academy
* Rush Copley Medical Center
* Indian Prairie School District 204
* Aurora Christian School
* ADS - Alarm Detection Systems
* PDS - Paragon Development Systems
* 8 Additional organization in process
The above listed organizations all were completed utilizing fiber lateral connections. This addendum would allow for the network to be expanded using a variety of wireless last mile connections. These connections will allow a broader range of network users to join the...
