SUBJECT: title
Traffic Study Request for Speed Hump or Signing for O'Malley Court
Ward 4 Alderman Donnell

body
PURPOSE:
To perform a traffic study to determine the need for traffic calming and/or signing due to speeding and cut thru traffic

BACKGROUND:
An ACR request was submitted by Resident of 212 O'Malley Ct inquiring regarding the possibility of installing speed humps or other signage due to concern over speed and cut thru traffic.

DISCUSSION:
This segment of roadway is effectively an alley connecting Woodlawn to Lake Street.  A speed study was conducted for this section of roadway.  It was found that the roadway carried a volume of 90 vehicles per day at an 85% speed of 16 MPH.    Per the traffic calming policy this segment of roadway is not eligible for traffic calming due to length of roadway,  Average Daily Traffic , and 8% speed.  The minimum length of roadway by policy is 1000 feet.  O'Malley Ct is 600 feet
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact based on staff recommendation

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial of traffic calming  based on not meeting the minimum requirements per the Traffic Claming Policy.
