SUBJECT:title
A Parking Study for N. Sumner Avenue at the intersection of Fenton Street. Ward 7, Alderman Hart-Burns.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for N. Sumner Avenue at the intersection of Fenton Street to determine the need for installing further parking restrictions.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted PS # 3206867 requesting "NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER" signage on N. Sumner Avenue at the intersection of Fenton Street.
DISCUSSION:
N. Sumner Avenue is classified as a Residential neighborhood roadway, having a 25 mph speed limit. It has curb, gutter, and sidewalk on both sides, measuring the standard 29.5-ft in width. The N. Sumner Avenue approach has a "NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER" restriction with marked yellow curb, extending southward approximately 20 feet from the crosswalk, on the south intersection leg. There is an existing yield sign for northbound Sumner Avenue.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street Maintenance resources to install and maintain recommended sign.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing a "NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER" sign, extending the existing, north approach, parking restriction to 30 feet, from the existing yield sign southward along Summer Avenue. This action would reinforce State Law and City Ordinance restriction of parking, from an intersection traffic control device.
