TO: Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM: Todd Schmitz, Golf Maintenance Manager

DATE: January 30, 2014

SUBJECT:
Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of Various Golf Course Equipment in the Total Amount of $61,731.87 Through the National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance

PURPOSE:
The replacement of two green mowers and one collar mower for use at the Phillips Park Golf Course is necessary in order to maintain the greens at the high level of playing condition to which our customers are accustomed.

BACKGROUND:
The average age for the golf course equipment recommended for replacement is thirteen years old. The equipment recommended for purchase has been bid through the National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance

DISCUSSION:
Golf course conditions are a major factor that golfers consider when choosing where to play. These mowers will allow us to continue to maintain the golf course at a competitive level. Dollars for this expenditure are available in account 550-4442-451-74.33

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Failure to purchase this equipment will result in higher equipment maintenance and repair costs. More importantly it may negatively affect golf course playing conditions

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution be adopted to purchase various golf course equipment in the amount of $61,737.81 under the National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance for the Phillips Park Golf Course
