SUBJECT:
Resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to sign an updated Memorandum of Understanding between the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the Aurora Police Department (APD) for task force officers and overtime reimbursement.

PURPOSE:

The DEA task forces requests an Aurora Police Officer to remain part of the task force. The APD will pay for the salary and benefits of the officer, including overtime. However, as a part of this agreement the DEA will reimburse the APD for overtime payments of task force officer up to $19,180.25 as long as the City of Aurora maintains complete and accurate records of the accounts of the overtime expenditures.

This agreement is submitted yearly to the Aurora Police Department, due to the fact that the overtime reimbursement is a sum equivalent to 25% of the salary of a GS-12, step 1, RUS Federal employee. As outlined, this value for 2021 will be $19,180.25.
