A Traffic Study for N. Commonwealth Avenue in the 1000 Block. Ward 6, Alderman Saville.
body
PURPOSE:
To consider installation of a speed limit sign on southbound N. Commonwealth Avenue north of Colorado Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 107835 requesting the installation of a Speed Limit sign on southbound N. Commonwealth Avenue for southbound traffic approaching Colorado Avenue. .
DISCUSSION:
N. Commonwealth Avenue is a residential street thereby designated as 25 MPH. The entrances to 25mph residential areas are required to post a speed limit sign where traffic exits a roadway with a higher posted speed. Upon inspection, traffic leaving 35mph W. Indian Trail south onto Golden Oaks Pkwy and then connecting to N. Commonwealth Avenue, there is no required 25mph Speed Limit sign. A sign should be installed where traffic enters onto southbound Golden Oaks Pkwy after turning off W. Indian Trail.
There is no evidence that additional 25 MPH signs have any impact in residential areas.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to post a 25 MPH sign on Golden Oaks Pkwy south of Indian Trail
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of residential 25 MPH sign on Golden Oaks Pkwy south of Indian Trail.
