PURPOSE:
The Mayor presents for Finance Committee review the Proposed 2019 Annual Budget. The 2019 Proposed Budget of $395,529,506 is $22.4 million less than the 2018 Amended Budget of $417,941,910. Under the Illinois Budget Act, the City must adopt a budget each year prior to the start of the next fiscal year..
BACKGROUND:
Each year the Finance Committee reviews the Proposed Budget for final approval by the full City Council before the start of the next fiscal year. The Finance Committee will meet and review the Proposed Budget over the next 4 weeks.
DISCUSSION:
Included in this agenda item is the transmittal message from Mayor Richard C. Irvin, and related budget documents.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Annual Budget sets the spending plan for the entire City each year.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Mayor requests that the Finance Committee review the annual budget for final City Council approval.
