SUBJECT:
A Resolution appointing Jacqueline Gibson and Francis "Frank" Johnson to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.

DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Housing Authority Board is seven (7) member board tasked with providing oversight to the Aurora Housing Authority. Commissioners are recommended by the Mayor and approved by the Aurora City Council. The board is currently in need of new members.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the recommended appointments to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

WHEREAS, the Aurora Housing Authority Board is in need of new members; and

WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidates be appointed to said board.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointments of Jacqueline Gibson, Aurora, IL and Francis "Frank" Johnson, Aurora IL to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Jacqueline Gibson shall expired September 30, 2022 and the term of Francis "Frank" Johnson shall expire September 30, 2019, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
