SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study on Grand Avenue in the 400 to 600 Block.  Ward 6, Alderman Saville (Returned from Committee of the Whole 8-5-14. Held in Committee 8-12-14.)
body
PURPOSE:
To perform a traffic study to determine need for counter measures.

BACKGROUND:
A resident expressed concern to Alderman Saville requesting a Speed Study for Grand Avenue between W. Illinois Avenue and West Park Avenue.

DISCUSSION:
A Speed Study was performed during the last week of June, 2014, revealing combined north and southbound speeds with a Mean of 24 mph, a Median of 24 mph, and an 85th Percentile Speed of 30 mph.  Northbound Speeds matched both the Southbound Speeds and the Combined Speeds.

The speeds and volume are consistent with the roadway classification.   The roadway segment does not qualify for traffic calming based on 85th percentile speed.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact based on recommendation.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
