A Parking Study for Montrose Avenue from Keating Drive to Savoy Court. Ward 9, Alderman Bugg.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for Montrose Avenue from Keating Drive to Savoy Court to determine the warrants for new parking regulations.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 126335 requesting Parking Restrictions for the stretch of Montrose Avenue from Keating Drive to Savoy Court.
DISCUSSION:
There are no parking restrictions for the above stretch of roadway. It is narrower than city standard at only 27-ft. in width. With vehicles parked on both sides of Montrose Avenue, there is only room for one car to pass at a time. The Speed Limit on Montrose Avenue is 25 mph, while the Speed Limit of Keating Drive is 30 mph. There is a STOP sign and Stop Bar on Montrose Avenue where it "Ts" into Keating Drive. Given the conditions, restricting parking to just one side of Montrose Avenue. Prohibiting parking on both sides of Montrose Avenue would also improve traffic flow.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for installing the parking restriction signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing No Parking this Side signs on the driveway side.
