TO: Mayor Richard C. Irving
FROM: Mark Matkovich, Assistant Chief of Services - Aurora Fire Department
DATE: February 11, 2021
SUBJECT:
Aurora Fire Department Station 5 window replacement.
PURPOSE:
To obtain approval to replace the windows at Aurora Fire Department Station 5.
BACKGROUND:
Aurora Fire Department Station 5 was opened on February 26,1990 and is now 31 years old. The windows are the original wood framed windows, the wood on these windows is starting to rot, they leak, have blown seals, the mechanism that open and close the windows are broken or missing because they did not work and some of the windows are screwed shut because they will not close all the way.
DISCUSSION:
Through the City's Job Order Contracting Services program, F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associates, LLC contacted three contractors, DuPree Construction, Market Contracting Services and Replacement Window Systems. Per the JOC program, all contractors use the same RS Means scale to price the services, the City receives a 7% discount from that cost. The quote to replace the windows at Aurora Fire Station 5 is for the total price of $35,463.83 and is anticipating using DuPree Construction.
We are requesting the window replacement at Aurora Fire Station 5 with the funds from a decision package that was approved in 2019 for 2020 but got pushed off till 2021 due to COVID. The funds for Aurora Fire Stations 5's widows are in account 340-3033-422.38-05.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Aurora Fire Department Station 5 will have windows that no longer leak and will operate correctly.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the Public Health, Safety, and Transportation Committee accept the quote from F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associates, LLC for $35,463.83 for Aurora Fire Department Station 5 window replacement.
