SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for the Intersection N. Elmwood Drive and Old Indian Trail Ward 6; Alderman Saville
body
PURPOSE:
To determine whether adequate line-of-site exists for westbound traffic on Old Indian Trail trying to turn left or right onto N. Elmwood Drive. Vehicles parked on N. Elmwood Drive south of Old Indian Trail may be limiting the line-of-site of drivers on Old Indian Trail.
BACKGROUND:
A resident created an ACR Case ID 90093 expressing concern that vehicles parked on the East side of N. Elmwood Drive may be blocking line-of-site for vehicles on Old Indian Trail.
DISCUSSION:
An inspection of this "T" intersection (where N. Elmwood Drive is the through street and Old Indian Trail is the roadway that ends) was made. The northbound view is clear because of NO PARKING ANY TIME signage restrictions. Attached photos of N. Elmwood Drive south of Old Indian Trail reveal that although line-of-site distance appears adequate, parking is totally unrestricted on the east side of N. Elmwood Drive.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to install NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signage on the east side of N. Elmwood Drive approaching Old Indian Trail.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signage for the north approach on the east side of N. Elmwood Drive according to Aurora City Specifications and Standards.
